What is Chikankari?

Chikankari is a GI craft of Lucknow, as the royal patriots have saved the arts culture by keeping it very close to their hearts. 


It is a hand-embroidered craft with over 32 different combinations of stitches giving it a complete handmade intricate look.

This motif is hand embroidered by women artisans of Lucknow, with a raw white cotton thread sourced domestically from the old part of Lucknow City.

The motif comprises of following stitches
- Ghaspatti
- Keel
- Phanda
- Jaali
- Ikhari bakhiya
- Zanjeera 
- Kaantein
