  Chikankari 4 essential processes in Chikankari hand-embroidery. . Indian tradition has very exotic forms of traditional handmade craft, and some handicrafts have the Geographical Indication of various art forms, Chikankari is G.I. of the Lucknow region and that's the reason sometimes people also call it Lucknawi, or Lucknow Chikan. The first process is selecting a design, then the design is made into Chikankari by the artisans setting the design in 32 different stitches. Some stitches of chikankari are 1. Phanda 2. Murri 3. What is Chikankari? Chikankari is a GI craft of Lucknow, as the royal patriots have saved the arts culture by keeping it very close to their hearts.  It is a hand-embroidered craft with over 32 different combinations of stitches giving it a complete handmade intricate look.  Do you know how does authentic Chikankari looks like? This motif is hand embroidered by women artisans of Lucknow, with a raw white cotton thread sourced domestically from the old part of Lucknow City.
